Living in this moment
Last weekend, I went to my sister's 60th birthday party-it was full of surprises - no middle-aged attitudes on display , but electric guitars played so loudly that you went home with your ears buzzing,  and elderly greatgrandparents who normally have difficulty walking /keeping their balance amazing everyone as they got out of their seats and danced with confidence. One relation who has suffered for decades with very bad arthritis led his wife on to the dance floor and jived far better than any of us. It was as though the occasion was so special it made everyone throw their everyday concerns and nervousness aside, and just live in that moment, totally enjoying themselves.

People at the party were meeting up again after not having seen each other for 20 or 30 years . It was so good to connect again. None of us really knew whether we'd ever see each other again, but that wasn't the point- the point was to enjoy the moment we did have, enjoy being together . Nobody asked each other what line of business they were in , or what they'd achieved - those things didn't matter on that evening. Jesus said we should not worry about the future, but live each day as it comes. It struck me that so often we all miss truly enjoying our lives , because we're always worrying about what may happen next. It's so easy to make worrying a way of life- I don't want to live like that - God help me to worry less, and dance more !
